For the non-golfers: SS&Gers (Sightseers, Shoppers & Gamers)
The SS&Gers are a group of non-golfers who attend the PSGA tournaments. While the group usually consists of ladies, whose significant others are golfing, we have been known to have the occasional non-golfing gentleman join our group.
Our activities during the tournament days consist of taking in the local sights, museums, art galleries, and shopping. Historically, a group of SS&Gers has also played bridge and other card games, hence “Gamers.” Although the activities are planned in advance, we are flexible and open to other suggestions. We meet on the Monday of the tournament to run through the agenda and make changes as needed to finalize on the activities. The activities are not mandatory and the SS&Gers pick and choose which ones they want to attend.
At the 2019 tournament in Spokane, we visited the Riverfront Park and took the gondola ride over Spokane Falls, visited the Jundt Art Museum, Crosby House, Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture and took a guided tour of the Campbell House. We had a guided tour of the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, had coffee at the Davenport Hotel, visited Manito Park with its beautiful gardens and a self-guided tour of St John’s Cathedral. Some suggestions for the 2019 tournament in the Gold Country included the Folsom Prison Museum, a tour of the Gekkeikan Sake Brewery, Folsom History Museum, Nimbus Fish Hatchery, Folsom Powerhouse, and, of course, there’s was always shopping at Folsom Outlets and Palladio Shopping Center.
